O pais azul - Le pays bleu

Illustrations publiées en 2006 dans "O pais azul", écrit par Teresa Balté et édité par les éditions Porto Editora, Portugal.   Créer des formes inattendues avec du papier photocopie, quelques gouaches et de la colle, voilà un programme qui me plaît.

Contos e lendas de Macau - 1 -

Illustrations publiées dans « Contos e Lendas de Macau », éditions Caminho, Portugal, 2001. Tous les contes ont été écrits par Alice Vieira. C'est avec ce livre illustré que j'ai reçu le prix national d’illustration au Portugal en 2002 puis, apres la publication de livre au Brésil le Prix « Henriqueta Lisboa » au Brésil (surtout a cause d'Alice). Ce livre m'a fait du bien. J'aimerais que toutes les illustrations du livre puissent en dire autant de moi. Pas sûr.

Bout de bois et petites baies

Quand tout devient carton-pateux, rien de tel qu'une petite création au coin d'un parc ou l'on vient de couper un bel arbre qui n'en demandait pas tant. Comme dit Babar:"Bon voyage!".

Rinaldo, Italian opera by George Frideric Handel

Quelques illustrations réalisées pour un projet de Librettos d'opéras. Ce projet a été publie en 2007 au Portugal, en France et en Espagne dans la collection "Les classiques de l'Opéra". Chaque libretto était vendu comme supplément des journaux suivants: O Diario de Noticias, Le Monde et El Pais.

Marcel

Premières pages d'Escale a Kerbarbo, livre publié par les éditions Amok dans la collection Feu en Janvier 1996. Histoire écrite et réalisée à Mirepoix, Gers, en compagnie d'une bande de grenouilles des mares gasconnes, et en songeant à la réserve d'eau de Mãe d'Agua du quartier du Rato à Lisbonne.

First pages of Escale a Kerbarbo, a graphic novel published by Amok, January 2006. When I wrote and drew that story about Marcel, surrounded and supported by the pleasant company of many frogs from a Gascon pool,  I was dreaming about Mãe d'Agua, a water tank in Lisbon.

La Fosse

In December 2000, Olivier Deprez, Nathalie lambert, Jean-Christophe Long, Eric Lambe, Olivier Quemere, Sylvain Victor and I, we spent a nice month in Brussels invited by Freon Publisher. Our goal was to tell a 16 pages story about Brussels, capital of Belgium (where I lived 5 years, 1985-1990), but also capital of the European Community. The result was a book called Recits de ville, Frigobox, Serie II. I did a story called La fosse, which meaning in English could be septic tank or communal grave. La Fosse is about farmer people from my childhood time, immigrants and administrative workers living in that city. For many Europeans farmers, Brussels was the main responsible for their bad lives. In 1996, when I was 32 years old, coming back from Portugal where I was living since 1993 (I moved definitively there in 1997), I worked during 6 months as a cow-boy in a farm in Pont-Melvez, Brittany. Everyday, I milked 40 cows, then I brought the herd to pasture on before to clean the whole shit. The worse part of this job was precisely to clean that whole shit on the animal housing. Also if I was listening some classical songs through the tractor’s radio, to fall into the tank was my chronic nightmare because the tractor was an old Massey Ferguson which brake was not working. Another time, I will tell something about my childhood. It’s all related with that story. For now, here are three pages. Watercolor + pencil colors.

Histórias com Gente lá dentro. Diario de Noticias 1

Weekly illustrations published in one of the main Portuguese Newspaper, Diario de Noticias, 2002/2004. The section was all the time about people with original stories. I really enjoyed doing this kind of quick illustration. Each image was a small stage where I tried to share my good humor. Thanks for all the journalists who worked with me on this!

Un peu de couleurs

De haut en bas: La première et la quatrième image ont été réalisées pour accompagner une série de poème: "S'en fout la Mort", écrits par Isabelle Lebastard. Les autres c'est du plaisir pris sur l'ennui.

Le Diable et la Pluie

Pages published during the 90's in LX Comics, Portugal, Le Lezard, France. Later, the pages have been also published in a catalogue during an exhibition in Cracovia, Poland about French comic creators.
